厝 (Home)

This film tells a story about a family in Chaozhou, Guangdong(潮州，广东). We found an authentic Chaozhou Style old house as the location, which provides compelling spaces for our story. Rigorous research has been made to ensure the ceremonies we shot were correct and convincing. We also hired professional team to hold the new house ceremony which has been remained as a traditional custom in Chaoshan Area. We shot the ceremony scene in documentary style because the performance was unstoppable and unrepeatable. In the dream sequence, I used stockings as a filter in front of the lens to soften the image. Lighting wise, we used natural light in most of the scenes since our goal is to create a Naturalistic look.
